With less than 200 km (124 miles) on the odometer, you can believe the guys from Silverstone Auctions when they claim that this 1990 BMW Z1 is mint and in perfect condition, as if it just left the BMW factory.
The car will be going under the hammer at the event hosted by the auction house on May 24th in The Wing building at the Silverstone Circuit and the price it will be leaving the lot for is currently estimated at £50,000 - 60,000 (about $84,000-$101,000 / €61,000-€74,000). According to the ad, the car was part of a private Swedish collection and that’s why it has so few miles on the odometer and was never registered.

So, is it worth it? If you ask us, definitely. That because this was the first car in the Z range ever built, back in the 1990s. It had a special body that allowed you to change every panel on it if you felt like it and the doors would retract into the door sills, a feature you won’t see anywhere else.

Since the panels were removable, you can probably imagine that they weren’t made of steel. Oh, no, they were made of plastic and, while you might think that ruined the car’s stiffness, it was actually the other way around, the Z1 still being regarded as one of the hardest models BMW ever made.

The engine is one of BMWs finest in the form of the M20B25 unit taken from the E30 325i that has 6 inline cylinders and a capacity of 2.5 liters. The total output was rated at 169 HP and 226 Nm (167 lb-ft) of torque in the Z1 application. If it still doesn’t look like an interesting offer, just take a look at the photo gallery and check out the pristine shape of the 24-year old car. If you’re still not impressed, maybe older automobiles aren’t for you...
