Earlier today we showed you the so-called MINI Augmented Vision glasses that look rather odd to be honest. We didn’t give them too much attention, thinking that it’s all just a marketing scheme but in just a couple of hours we changed our mind.
That’s because the MINI people just published four videos of the eyewear on Youtube showing us exactly how they work, and I have to say, we’re impressed!

First up, parking seems like a really easy task now, thanks to the Augmented Parking feature. This facilitates parking by projecting the images from a camera housed in the (farside) mirror into the eyewear. In this way, the distance from the curb can be clearly and easily ascertained. Don’t believe us, check out the first video.

Then you get X-Ray view, the glasses basically allowing you to see through your car’s body, for example, watching out for nearby pedestrians and even pets. Once again, it seems like you’re in Superman’s shoes and too good to be real but the second video will clear things out.

However, since you can wear the glasses outside the car as well, you’ll be glad to learn that they can help you get to your destination on foot, in areas where car access is limited. Check out the third video.

Last but not least you can use the eyewear to scan all sorts of flyers with barcodes or QR codes and get the coordinates to where you need to go. It’s that simple. It’s like Google Glass but with a MINI badge on it. Color me impressed!
