MINI Road Assist App Now Available

MINI USA has just announced that a free mobile application that allows access to roadside assistance is now available for all MINI owners who are also iPhone and BlackBerry users. The MINI Road Assist application enables users to connect to roadside assistance, while also supplying the service provider with several informations about the vehicle, including its exact location.

"MINI owners appreciate technological innovation and will welcome the additional peace of mind that comes from having fast, easy access to the free roadside services provided during their warranty period," said Jim McDowell, Vice President MINI USA, in a statement for the press.

So, to get straight to the point, MINI owners need to download it to their iPhone or compatible BlackBerry device, which is available for free here. The users are then guided to enter their VIN, name, address and other details, even to upload a photo of their MINI. Therefore, when roadside help is needed, all they have to do is launch the application, select the service they need and press the ‘call’ button.

At that moment, their user information, vehicle location and service need are all transmitted automatically to customer service representatives, therefore saving time. The service is based on GPS technology, pinpointing a caller's location to help customer service representatives identify the nearest available service provider and communicating their exact location.

Probably the most important information for the users is that all MINI USA owners have access to roadside assistance free of charge as long as the vehicle remains under warranty. Customers whose warranty has expired may still download the free app and use the roadside assistance for a fee set by the service provider.
