Today, MINI’s engineers and product designers unveiled their latest creation, the new MINI Cooper T - the world’s first vehicle to be powered by a tea-leaf biofuel composite.

Since the company is British (despite its German ownership at the moment) it was only natural that their engineers tried to make the best of the resources they had aplenty. And what’s more popular and cheap in the UK than tea?

Therefore, the development started a while back and, apart from the eco-friendly character, the tea-powered cars are also really economical, covering up to 40 miles on a single cup.

Innovative technology was also infused in the car that features VVT, ABS, DSC and DAT (Dunk Avoidance Technology) which is an ingenious filtration system that stops owners and passerby from using the car’s fuel tank as their own personal cup of tea.

“This particular project has been brewing for years. Our extensive research has shown that the nation’s favourite drink is also an ideal biofuel. We already know good things come in small packages, but with Cooper T customers benefitting from up to 40 miles per cup, we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring this car to market,” said the Head of Cooper T engineering, Dr. Ivana Kuppa.

The vehicle will be displayed in numerous colors like “Chamomile Yellow”, “Red Bush” and “Earl Grey” just today, April 1st, at MINI Cotswold Gloucester in Gloucestershire.
