It’s not a secret anymore that MINI sales are plummeting and that the company should be looking for a way out of this situation. However, the solutions they come up with are rather... interesting, to say the least. Japan will soon be getting two limited edition models: a Countryman and a Paceman to raise the brand’s popularity.
In a country where key cars rule due to the humongous crowds that have to make their way thorough the town every day, a brand like MINI should fit right in. Well, that might’ve been the case some 30 years ago but it’s definitely not anymore. And that’s especially true when it comes to the Countryman.

This particular model is the biggest they ever put in production. It has 5 doors and it is impressive to look at, offering plenty of space inside and taking up a lot of it on the outside.

The limited-run Countryman will be built in 140 units and all of them will be Cooper SD versions. What makes them special is the same color used inside and out, Frozen Black being the way to go, to remind us of Batman’s car. That’s actually where the name comes from. Sure, the movie was called ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ but the Marketing team somehow decided to go with ‘The Black Knight’ instead...

The price

Pricing for this model starts at JPY4.51 million ($39,542 at the current rates) and also gets you black headlights with xenons, piano black trims, bi-color 18 inch wheels, leather heated seats, anthracite headliner, sport suspension and a sport steering wheel.

The second special Black Knight edition model will be even rarer to come by. It’s a JCW Paceman that starts at JPY5.43 million ($47,616). This one too will be showcasing the same color scheme and come with plenty of optionals but only 10 of them will be made.

Standard features include the complete John Cooper Works kit, 19” lightweight wheels, black headlights, bi-xenon lights, leather seats done in Lounge Championship Red, JCW steering wheel and MINI ConnectedDrive. Ordering books are currently open.
