MINI is using this year’s edition of the Los Angeles International Auto Show to offer US customers another member of the hot hatch world. We are talking about the 2013 John Cooper Works GP.
We met the most extreme incarnation of the MINI hatch earlier this year at its Paris Motor Show world debut and we have to tell you that it looks very aggressive in person. MINI has also announced the pricing for 500 US-bound units of the vehicle - $39,950. The order books are now open and the first customers will receive their cars in March next year.
The 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine was pushed to 211 hp and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque, working with a six-speed manual to that the car past the 60 mph (96 km/h) mark in 5.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h).
The MINI JCW GP comes finished in Thunder Grey Metallic with red accents, uses a bespoke aerodynamic package and rides on 17-inch wheels. Climbing aboard, we find Recaro seats, a new steering wheel, as well as a brace that’s placed where the rear seats used to be.
