The recent "brownian motion" surrounding MINI models brought forward and interesting (and according to us the best) model in the current line-up of the British brand, the Paceman. Being the seventh model of the BMW sub-brand, a lot was expected from the Sports Activity Coupe in the premium and small compact vehicle segment.
However, the Paceman didn't disappoint, especially the JCW All4 version. The special version Paceman has the same 1.6-liter engine displacement but due to a turbocharger and some fine mechanical tuning delivers 218 HP and 207 lb-ft (289 Nm) of torque to all 4 wheels. Hooked to a 6-speed manual gearbox this engine takes the car up to the 100 km/h benchmark in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 225 km/h.

According to Autoblog the car is a delight to drive, as all MINIs are. The defining characteristic of a MINI, and especially a JCW edition, is the sporty and agile feeling it gives you. Even though the new MINIs have electric-powered steering, when activating the Sport mode you get a good feel of what is under the front wheels of the car, which is impressive.

The All4 system worked flawlessly and takes the car around corners without effort or understeer. The JCW version is a bit lower and stiffer than the normal Paceman, which is only natural, but can be comfortable as well when the car is driven at a normal pace.

Overall the car does what it's supposed to do: offer great fun the enthusiastic driver. Of course, some will complain about the price and that other cars, like the Golf R, are cheaper but at the same time they forget that this is a premium car and premium quality comes with a price. You cannot get the same feeling in a cheaper car, in this segment, no matter who builds it.
