Forget the MINI Cooper. That is so passe, amirite? The ultimate hipster-mobile is not the MINI Cooper, nor those girly bicycles with the even girlier flower baskets. MINI, a brand appreciated by hipsters as much as a man stranded in the desert appreciates a puddle of water, came with the next big thing. Which isn’t exactly big, literally speaking.
Cue the MINI Hipster Hatch, the newest model from the coolest automaker in the world. If you buy such a Hipster Hatch, you give the middle finger to the conventional and you swerve the mainstream. The question is, is it good value for money? In a nutshell, yes.

In the MINI Hipster Hatch, you go your own way. For starters, the engine is connected to a fixed-gear transmission. That should come in handy for hipsters who don’t understand the concept of gear ratios. The gearbox is inspired by the fixie pedal bike, with the single forward gear offering a top end of 25 mph (40 km/h), also known as posing speed.

The red lumberjack check exterior detailing is another highlight, as are the Instagram filtered windows. Yes, ladies and gentlemen with an unexplainable passion for bushy beards and superfood smoothies, you get not one, not two, but 12 Instagram window filters at the touch of a button. The standard equipment list doesn’t end here, though, not by a long shot.

Once you step inside, you’ll notice that the seats are wrapped in retrolicious stonewash denim. Sweet! The feature to end all features, however, is the twin-deck cassette player. Think about it - the crackly analogue sound of a ‘90s jungle music mixtape, tape-to-tape recording for sharing the vibe with your hipster friends, AM radio, what more could you wish for?

What, a turntable? That’s an expensive option, I’m afraid. You could retrofit an 8-track player, though.
