Remember the spyshots of the MINI Coupe John Cooper Works GP we showed you earlier this year? Well, if you do, you can forget the whole story, as it’s not going to happen. According to MotoringFile, MINI has decided to pull the plug on the fastest version of the new MINI Coupe, despite the fact that the development was in an advanced stage, as the aforementioned spyshots showed.
It seems that the carmaker was worried about marketing issues, as the release of a cooler GP model was believed to have diverted interest away from the Cooper JCW GP model, which is already a special version of the car. This is being produced in just 2,000 examples, which will be offered on the international market.

Of course, MINI could change its mind later in the model’s life, but chances of the Coupe JCW GP coming to life are pretty slim.
