MINI Countryman Making UK Debut on September 18

MINI is preparing to introduce the Countryman model to the UK market, with the vehicle being scheduled to make its debut in the country on September 18.

The Countryman range’s entry level model will have a starting price of 16,000 pounds, with the British company promising that this will come with a rich list of standard features that will satisfy premium customers.

The vehicle will be able to accommodate five adults and will be the first in MINI’s range to come with four-wheel-drive. The car will be offered in seven versions, out of which two will be available with ALL4, the company’s new 4WD system.

With extra space, ALL4 and four doors we believe the MINI Countryman will appeal to a completely new audience and with prices starting at 16,000 pounds with a very high standard specification, I think we are on to a winner,” said Jochen Goller, Director of MINI UK. “The fact that Countryman is already sold out for this year indicates that MINI showrooms are going to be popular this autumn,” Goller added.

In addition to expanding the automaker’s offer, the Countryman will also be used in the World Rally Championship, marking MINI’s return to the series.

"The Countryman brings new levels of space and versatility to the range that will attract not only existing MINI owners but also new customers. We expect that the extra space will mean that around 80 per cent of Countryman sales will come from customers completely new to the MINI brand. Already we see the MINI Countryman being the benchmark in terms of residual values and lease company whole life costs,” said Lee Connolly, Product and Planning Manager at MINI UK.
