The safety systems fitted onto the Countryman, which helped it achieve the highest star rating, include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC is fitted as standard) Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Brake Assist and Hill Assist.
The safety of the occupants is being taken care of by a wide range of supplemental restraint system. For the front seats, belt tensioners and belt force limiters have been fitted, while the safety steering column of the MINI Countryman also comes with a deformation element.
“The MINI Countryman put in a convincing performance with its wide range of standard-fitted safety equipment designed to ensure highly effective occupant protection for both adults and children in various types of collision,” says BMW.
“Alongside the high levels of active and passive safety designed to reduce the risk of injury inside the MINI Countryman, its pedestrian protection measures also played their part in securing the top rating.”
The Euro NCAP tested a batch of 14 cars recently, 10 of which received the top rating. Three other models received four stars, while a single one, the Chinese Landwind CV9, received a disappointing two-star rating.
