MINI Countryman, as Big as it Gets for the Brits

Finally, the purists can sigh easily. The MINI Chief of Design, Anders Warming told Auto Express at the Geneva Motor Show 2014 that the company he works for won’t make a car bigger than the current Countryman, at least for now.
“We won’t build anything bigger than the Countryman, not at this moment. You should be able to park a MINI in a city, so a Countryman or this new Clubman is as big as it should be,” Warming said.

This comes as no surprise as the vast majority of the MINI fans already started complaining that the brand is being diluted, spreading into all sorts of niches that don’t really need to be exploited. Furthermore, the line-up the brand has today covers all the possible tastes and desires, going from the classic hardtop to the convertible, coupe and even small crossover range with the Countryman.

Couple with the earlier statements from Peter Schwarzenbauer, BMW board member for MINI and Rolls-Royce at the Detroit Motor Show, that said he expects the range to dye down to 4 or 5 basic models, we could see the Brits going back to their roots, once again.

Furthermore, the Head Designer also had a remark in this regard, saying that MINI is going to focus more on the individuality rather than mass production and that the Rocketman concept shouldn’t be ruled out, just yet. That’s just music to our ears!
