MINI Cooper D Clubvan Test Drive

The MINI Clubvan is supposed to be "the world's first premium compact delivery van" for "trend-conscious commercial users". Wether it succeeded or not, only time will tell. For now, we can read all about it, in AutoMotorUndSport's test drive.

The Clubvan is based on the Clubman from which only a letter and missing back seats set it apart. Instead of a backseat you're now welcomed by a flat cargo floor with tough plastic pads. Also, the driver and passenger are protected by whatever they might carry in the back by a massive, stainless steel mesh.

The trunk fits 860 liters of cargo and the outside can make for good advertising space. Re-labeling in some countries might save you a lot of money in taxes for commercial vehicles and the engine is quite economical.

The driving feel is remarkably similar to the Clubman and all the other MINIs. The 112 HP seem enough for the car, especially when completely empty. The complex multi-link rear axle is comfortable and handles the car's maximum payload of 550kg with ease.

This car could prove to be a good alternative for classic commercial vehicles and might even attract crowds of entrepreneurs that are looking for a bit of style for their business. We'll just have to wait and see.
