According to AutoNews.com's Jens Meiners, Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group chief designer, might've hinted at a couple of even bigger MINIs than we're used too.
That would mean that the upcoming line-up of MINIs might have one or two models bigger than the Countryman, which is already at the limit, being considered an abomination by MINI hardcore fans.

"We thought that young customers would buy a MINI and move up to BMW when they grew older. That hasn't happened, and therefore we needed the Countryman and the Paceman to open up the brand," van Hooydonk said.

That means that, in order to keep MINI clients interested in the British company's products, the designers have to come up with new models to attend to everyone's need. When asked about the viability of an SUV MINI, van Hooydonk did say that the BMW sub-brand should consider it.

However, we think it is highly unlikely to see a MINI SUV. Maybe an MPV might show up in the future, size similarly to the 1 Series GT or even a bit bigger but a car bigger than that just doesn't seem possible at the moment.

Furthermore, MINIs are so like because they are small and that makes them fun to drive. Take that away and you just won't like driving such a car anymore. Hopefully, the management board will come to their sense and won't ruin the brand.
