The fifth stage of the 2014 Dakar Rally took the contestants from Cilecito to Tucaman, in Argentina. Joan “Nani” Roma managed to secure his second win of the contest, finishing faster than any of his rivals, helping the MINI teams secure the top 4 positions in the overall standings, for the moment.

The organizers had to shorten the route by 99 kilometers but even so, the brilliant MINI driver couldn’t be stopped, proving he’s more than a worthy challenger for the title.

“We had a flawless run. The conditions were very challenging but our preparations paid off and the MINI ALL4 Racing was in tiptop shape. A good day for us. Onto the next now,” said Roma in Tucamán.

Other MINI drivers moved up in the standings, with Nasser Al-Attiyah finishing fifth (second overall), Orlando Terranova claiming fourth place and Stephane Peterhansel (the en-titre champion) moving in the fourth place overall.

Leg six of the rally will take place today, covering 694 km from Tucaman to Salta, Argentina.
