When one speaks about MINI, he’s automatically talking about that famous ‘go-kart’ feeling that never ceases to amaze people, especially those that are experiencing it for the first time.
It was the same for this editor, when he felt it first. After hearing so much about it, I was more than curious about what it meant and, especially, how it feels like. I wasn’t disappointed. However, it’s really hard to describe the feeling but once you drive a MINI, you’ll recognize it, almost instantly.

With the 2014 model, the engineers from Oxford claim that that feeling has been intensified. How come? Their press release claims that the revised suspension technology, reduced weight and increased rigidity allowed them to.

Furthermore, new single joint spring strut axle with aluminum swivel bearing and axle supports and wishbones made of high-strength steel together with new multilink axle with optimized lightweight construction and space-saving geometry will help out.

As for the steering, the electromechanical power steering will be coming with Servotronic as standard, which will improve fuel consumption but might leave you wanting more in the feedback department.

However, we can’t help but notice the new model is a bit bigger than its predecessor. No matter how much weight was saved, usually bigger means less agile and that truly was where the MINI was brilliant. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens when we test drive the new model.
