MINI at the Salone del Mobile 2013

Ander Warming, the Head of MINI Design, introduced a dynamic sculpture at the 2013 Salone del Mobile, along with his team of designers. The so-called MINI KAPOOOW! features a MINI Paceman in a rather distinctive sculpture, meant to emphasize the polyvalent attributes of the latest British model.

According to MINI officials, this project crosses the boundaries of space and undergoes a transformation of materials and forms. The sculpture is displayed in an authentic MINI realm, the MINI Paceman Garage that will also be used as a platform where artists and designers can exchange ideas and creative thoughts.

The installation is divided in two parts. The first one features the stock rear end of the Paceman, with its passionate design. It is just a plain car seen as it is in real-life, a car that is just about to enter a new dimension and goes through a wall.

On the other side of the wall, we see the second part of the installment, the transformation of the MINI. The front side of the Paceman crosses into another dimension, one where its original form and front end become something different, an idea, made out of paper. This symbolizes the creative process that requires a lot of paper and a lot of tries in order to achieve the desired end result.
