MINI and Rock Band Kiss Raise Funds for UNICEF

In order to help fund global relief efforts, the British manufacturer MINI will offer for auction four Countryman models that feature the makeup alike and autographs of Kiss rock band members.

According to Autoweek, just before Father’s Day, on May 29, the eBay charity auction will open and will last 10 days. All funds will be distributed to UNICEF in order to help children in Japan.

MINI made the announcement on Thursday at the New York International Auto Show together with the unveiling of the four custom painted Countrymans. Also present at the British automaker’s stand were the four members from Kiss.

The auction represents the first step for MINI’s competitive test-drive tour in the United States, called “Mini Rocks the Rivals.”

The “MINI Rocks the Rivals” campaign is a campaign that features a series of test-drive events that are set to take place across the whole United States of America starting from late April and continuing all the way through early June. At each event, a Mini Countryman is going to be tested against three of its closest competitors.

Mini and its owners have long been dedicated to contributing to philanthropic and charitable efforts,” said Jim McDowell, Vice President of Mini U.S.A..

Mini U.S.A. had established a relationship with Kiss as we kick off the ‘Mini Rocks the Rivals’ tour in the US, and these fundraising initiatives were an ideal way for us to incorporate a fun charitable component to the campaign with these original pieces of art,” he added.

Each Countryman will be custom painted with a different design that represents Kiss’ legendary make-up. After the paint is applied to the automobiles, each Kiss member will personally sign an autograph on each car.
