Less than two weeks separate us from the global launch of the very first BMW M4 Coupe at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. Even though BMW already launched the new car alongside its Sedan brother earlier this year and therefore we already know how it looks like, seeing the production car on the road in the flesh is still a pulse-accelerating experience.
The latest such spotting (it sound like we’re following aliens, doesn’t it?) occurred in Regensburg, where an Autogespot member caught an M4 completely undisguised, driven by a woman. The car seems to be done in Mineral Grey (or Black Sapphire, it’s too dirty to actually distinguish the two and the shots don’t really help either) and has the Carbon Ceramic Brakes on, as suggested by the Gold Calipers.
The car will have a 3-liter bi-turbo engine under the bonnet making 431 HP and 550 Nm of torque. Hooked up to the automatic 7-speed DCT gearbox, it will do 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 4.1 seconds, despite its rear-wheel-drive configuration.
