Ford's 1-liter EcoBoost definitively proved that can make a 3-cylinder engine that's cool and fun. The innovative powerhouse virtually doubled and tripled in demand over just a few months and now Ford sells more than half of its Fiestas with the 1-liter.
Offering 100 horsepower and a throaty exhaust, the 1-liter Fiesta is popular with keen young drivers. Especially for them, famed exhaust specialists Milltek have worked with the leading UK Ford tuners on a custom set of pipes that mach this.
A complete exhaust system has been crafted for the Fiesta, going right from the engine manifold to the back of the car for maximum power increases. Starting with a large-bore downpipe, the Milltek system continues into a sport catalyst. Optionally, the company also offers a cat-bypass pipe for motorsport-use or in markets that do not require catalysts to be fitted.
The system works for both the basic 100 hp version of the Fiesta and the more hardcore 125 hp models. The pipe diameter has been "carefully optimized at 2.37-inch (60.30mm) and every part is made from the finest aircraft-grade stainless steel".
As for the aural experience, Milltek offers the choice between resonated or non-resonated center sections to allow owners to select the sound of their car to suit their own requirements. Those who want a sporty but smooth experience that won't bother them on a work commute should go for the resonated setup.
To match the taste of Fast Fords from years past, Milltek have added twin ‘GT80’ trims, complementing the sporty nature of the Fiesta.
