The Nurburgring has steered clear of its public road status for this Monday, being closed for a private track day that takes up an important part of today's schedule.
As you can imagine, the usual overflow of information coming from Touristenfahrten (Tourist Days) events has been blocked. If you were one of the millionaires who paid for the shenanigan, you wouldn't want your business partner's children to see you braking too late into Adenauer Forst and giggling about it on Instagram, would you?
Nevertheless, with Russian-born driving instructor Tatiana sharing the warm-up in the parking lot (via Boosted Boris), we can satisfy our curiosity, albeit just partially.
So, how do you recognize a group of uber-wealthy aficionados going at it on the Green Hell? Well, for one thing, (almost) everybody drives racecars. We're talking about the kind of motorsport material that's easier to relate to than, say, a Radical or formula racer.
You know, the big names, such as the Aston Martin Vulcan, the Pagani Zonda R or what looks like a Mercedes-AMG GT RR. Yep, all three are connected through the wonderful virtues of natural aspiration.
Since these people are actually pursuing their high-octane passion, there's no need to use the freshest tool in the shed, so while Prancing Horses had to be on the list, the FXX K is absent. An FXX did the job just fine, being joined by a more mundane 488 GT3.
Somebody didn't dress properly for the occasion, showing up in a Veyron, but we guess nobody had an issue with that. Keep in mind that these are just a part of the machines that are hanging out at the Ring today.
According to the Nurburgring website, a Doc-Scholl motorcycling training adventure is scheduled for today, between 8 AM and 5 PM. We're dealing with a racing training company that works with ADAC (the German Automobile Club), with the day being split between the event mentioned above and this one.
When the Zonda R's 750 hp 6-liter and the Vulcan's 820 hp 7-liter V12s are fighting for aural attention on a closed track and the rumor mill talks about Viktor Kharitonin, the new owner of the Ring, leading the hostilities, you know things are extra spicy. After all, we can expect that from a Monday morning, right?
