Miller Misses the Sepang Test, Michelle Pirro Shows the New Ducati Desmosedici

Bad start in 2016 for Team Marc VDS as their main rider, Australian Jack Miller, will not be clear to participate in the first official test of the year at Sepang in Malaysia. Around ten days ago we informed you that Miller, 21, broke his right tibia and fibula in an incident that occurred during a motocross training session.
Miller underwent surgery in Barcelona after being examined by Dr. Xavier Mir. Dr. Eugenio Gimeno, who operated on Miller said that the surgery was perfect and would have the Australian under supervision for the next two days, with new evaluations to take place ahead of the Malaysian test.

The latest investigations have revealed that Miller will not be able to endure the stress of the Sepang test and will have to continue rehabilitation preparing for the Phillip Island one.

Team Marc VDS will only field their rider Tito Rabat, for the first time in his career on a MotoGP bike. In preparation for this moment, Rabat spent the off-season astride a Honda CBR1000RR, getting acquainted with the character of liter-class machines. Further info on Miller's progress is expected ahead of the Phillip Island test.

Ducati did not rush to introduce the final looks of their GP16 prototype, but thanks to their test rider Michelle Pirro, we have the first pics of the machine.

Little can be said now about the 2016 version of the Desmosedici, as the photos are not exactly analytical. They've been shot in the Sepang paddocks, where Pirro was testing the new machine.

The carbon fiber fairing can be admired in all its sober nakedness, and we can also see that Ducati retained the four-winglet design of the hull. Most likely, the position and the angles of the winglets have been revised in accordance with the bike's new performance, and it will not be a surprise to see more manufacturers implementing this aerodynamic solution at certain circuits. We already saw Yamaha using them on Rossi's bike in 2015 and might get to see more of them this season.

Now, we've only got some 2 days left until the MotoGP action returns to the track, albeit with a three-day test at Sepang. Hopefully, the rain will stay out of the equation allowing teams and riders to make full use of their track time in Malaysia. Grab popcorn and beers!
