Mike Lafferty Joins Husaberg Enduro Team

{img1 align=left)The North American division of Husaberg, part of KTM Motorsports, have just announced that the eight-time National Enduro Champion Mike Lafferty will move to the Husaberg Factory Race Team for the remainder of the 2009 and 2010 season. The rider is scheduled to make his debut as a member of Husaberg Enduro race team on October 11, 2009 during the Thunder at the Beach motocross race.

Lafferty has been racing at the championship level since 1993 when he won the AMA Regional Championship. By winning eight AMA National Enduro Championships, Lafferty ties the record previously set by Dick Burleson. The 33-year-old rider has been factory sponsored by KTM USA, so his move to the Husaberg team is something that was to be expected.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 15 years of my professional race career and look forward to my new venture with Husaberg. I have enjoyed riding and learning the new bike,”
Lafferty said. “As Husaberg is a division of KTM, I have watched the bikes develop over the years and feel that the current bike is definitely capable of winning. I feel comfortable on the bike and look forward to a successful racing season."

"We couldn't have asked for a better rider to join the Husaberg Factory Team. Mike is an extremely talented rider welcomed on the track as much as he is off the track,”
said Husaberg Team Manager Antti Kallonen, in a statement for the press. “He is great for our sport and will be a great asset to the Husaberg brand. We look forward to winning a championship with Mike," commented Husaberg Team Manager Antti Kallonen.”
