French tire manufacturer, Michelin, one of the three largest such companies in the world, decided to show its appreciation towards BMW these days with a short video that tells the story of the two brands. In case you didn’t know, every M car since the late 1980s has been fitted with Michelin tires.
That includes the legendary BMW E30 M3 and other notable names, from the E60 M5 to the E46 M3 CSL, all of them were sent off into the world by the Germans using French tires. Sounds kinda funny, doesn’t it?
Well, it’s true, and to show their appreciation for the way things went down over these years, the French decided to put together a clip showcasing some of their best moments.
The 2-minute long feature includes, amongst others, an exhibition of six M cars currently on sale, adding up to over 3,100 HP. We’re talking about a show of force made up of a BMW M3, M4, M5, M6, X5 M and X6 M. There’s one problem, though.
As standard, the X5 M and X6 M models come fitted with 20x10 and 20x11.5 wheels and they are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires measuring 285/40/20 up front and 325/35/20 round the back. That being said, we can only assume Michelin referred to the optional 21-inch wheels when mentioning the SUVs.
That’s because they can be had with Michelin rubber but only if you go for the optional 21x10 and 21x11.5 inch wheels that come with Pilot Super Sport UHP tires measuring 285/35/21 up front and 325/30/21 round the back.
Leaving all this tech behind, seeing such long-term collaborations work does leave you with a good feeling, doesn’t it? Knowing that loyalty still means something today. That’s why we tip our hat to Michelin for showing so much love for BMW. Check it out!
