It's not really made out of ivory and it's not really Michael Schumacher's but it will bear his name and it will be a tribute to his World Championship victories in the F1 series. The project will kick off in what is quickly getting to be one of the most exclusive cities all over the world, Abu Dhabi.
The tower will sit right smack in the business center of the city and plans have already popped up online with the general design. From the pictures you can see it will be another water-related project, as it will sit on an artificial marina on the waterfront. With a highly aerodynamic shape which is said to be inspired from Formula One, the project is developed by Marasi and PYNG.
But wait, there's more! If your name is Michael Schumacher and you call our operators now, you'll get not one, not two, not three, but six new towers built all over the world, all to commemorate each of your seven championship wins in your career. Pretty neat, huh?
As well as being freaking cool in appearance, the tower will also be green, with solar panels shaped-like fins which will constantly track the sun and generate energy. What that means is that the building will have a constantly changing outer architecture. That and the fact that “the tower's ecological impact will be limited, while advanced methods will be employed to preserve energy consumption and reduce the level of thermal emissions to zero” will make this tower not only visually appealing but also very efficient.
The design is made by LAVA Architects, the guys who also worked on Beijing's famous Water Cube building. They say they drew inspiration from the geometrical form of a snowflake and the aerodynamics of Formula 1. So it's pretty safe to assume that this project too will end up as a landmark, but this time in the Arabic Peninsula.
Other specific data, like the overall height and the date of completion, were not yet given, but our guess is that right now Michael Schumacher has all the reasons to be smug. Not even Donald Trump will have that kind of exposure with his towers.
