Michael Jordan Sells His Bentley to Volvo Museum in Illinois

Former American professional basketball player, who also formed Michael Jordan Motorsports in 2004 as a result of his passion for motorcycle racing, has recently sold his Bentley Continental GT Coupe to the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois.

The car is a 2005 coupe model with only 12,000 miles. It is powered by W-12 engine with twin turbochargers and 552 horsepower. The vehicle was personalized by Jordan with dark tinted glass, a set of $9,000 Lowenhart wheels and a talking radar system with front and rear sensors.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Brian Grams, son of the museum's owner, said the 2005 Bentley is equipped to go 198 mph and would sell for $207,000 new. The price paid by the museum, however, has not been disclosed. "It is simply going to be for display," he added.

What not many people out there know is that Jordan's Bentley is the very same car that inspired the Nike Air Jordan 21. Specifically, the front of the shoe is even designed to resemble the Bentley grill.

However, this Bentley is not the only car the museum has bought from Jordan, as the first was a 1993 ZR-1 Corvette. The car, with 4,500 original miles, is a 350cc V-8, 405 horsepower with 6-speed manual transmission. This was the first ZR-1 off the production line, with an original sticker price of $67,778. Only 448 ZR-1s were produced and out of the 448, only 220 were the 40th anniversary edition. The vehicle was given to Michael Jordan and no one else has driven it.
