Michael Jordan Motorsports Leaves AMA Pro Racing, Possibly Going WSBK or Even MotoGP

Michael Jordan Motorsports announces they will no longer be a part of the 2014 AMA Pro Racing season, MJM's Kreig Robinson tells RoadRacingWorld, Asphalt & Rubber reports.

The main reason for this move is the National Guard's decision to cease the sponsorship of both Michael Jordan Motorsports and the whole series. A chief sponsor for MJM and a title sponsor for the AMA Pro Racing, the National Guard appears to have refused the renewal of their contracts.

Among other reasons mentioned by Robinson we can add the lack of a provisional calendar for 2014, despite the racing season being already over for some time now. This only increases the lever of incertitude as far as the next season is concerned and coupled with the not-so-peachy road racing segment in the US, it only makes things worse.

MJM will also be taking a step back with their Supersport Celtic Racing program, the same sources mention.

Robinson adds that MJM is looking at World Superbike and MotoGP, too, and the organization is trying to figure out which class would suit them best. However, no specific direction was mentioned, and it looks like 2014 will be dedicated to analyzing all the possibilities and making the best decision.

Now, having Michael Jordan in the MotoGP paddocks every other weekend or so is one things we never saw coming, but it will definitely make things all the more interesting.
