Offensive tackle for the Miami Dolphins Branden Albert definitely wants to be taken seriously when it comes to his success. He recently got two of the rides he drives around, the Rolls Royce Wraith and the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, to the shop. Of course the for wheelers got all customized with bad boy looks, but for some reason the sportsman also thought getting two rubies in Emily’s eyes would be a good idea.
The 29-year old football player recently signed a five-year, $47 million contract with the Miami Dolphins so he probably thought it’s time to step to next level. We have no problem with custom-made luxury cars, but the rubies eyes are a bit too much. Maybe Albert was too busy with chasing that ball to actually read about the Spirit of Ecstasy symbol. We’ll take the time to remind him.

The Spirit of Ecstasy, also called “Emily,” “Silver Lady” or “Flying Lady” is in fact a long lasting symbol of love. It was designed by English sculptor Charles Robinson Sykes and carries with it a story about a secret passion between John Walter Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu (a pioneer of the automobile movement, and editor of The Car Illustrated magazine 1902) and his secret love and the model for the emblem, Eleanor Velasco Thronton. Eleanor was John Walter’s secretary, and their love was to remain hidden for more than a decade.

Their relationship could not be official because of Eleanor’s impoverished social and economic status. John-Walter, succumbing to family pressures, married Lady Cecil Victoria Constance, but the secret love affair continued. Eleanor died on 30 December 1915 when the SS Persia, on which she accompanied Lord Montagu on his journey to India, was torpedoed off Crete by a German submarine, four years after she had been immortalized by her lover.

You see now why we think that inserting rubies in Emily’s eyes is like painting the Statue of Liberty in red?

Anyway, strictly discussing cars, we have to admit we totally dig everything other than the rubies. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe got 22’’ Carbon Fiber extreme concave Vellano wheels with Pirelli 265/30. The guys from the auto shop also put a 312/25 set up and a color matched Carbon fiber rear OE diffuser. Wing and front grilles were also added, to accent the already stock carbon roof and interior. The BMW also features Fabspeed exhaust, which makes the car sound exactly like it looks.

As to the Rolls-Royce Wraith, most of the chrome was blacked-out and the car was lowered 3 inches to help the 24’’ Vellanos fill in the wheel wells. It got custom brake calipers accented by the not smoked tail lights. If he only left Emily rest in peace…
