MG6 BTCC Edition Celebrates Return to Racing

This year was very important to MG as market the famed British brand’s return to motorsport in general, and the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in particular. Now, they have launched a special edition for their 6 hatchback, predictably called the BTCC Edition.

Sadly, it is more of a ‘stickers and sunroof’ special edition, as it features no mechanical modifications or improvements over the regular model, and the list of mods is limited to cosmetic ones. The exterior get a matte black roof, special black 18-inch alloys, black mirror covers, a more pronounced front splitter, sportier rear bumper and a discrete rear spoiler.

Two paint finishes are available: Arctic White and Union Blue, with the latter being a much better choice, as the blue just seems to go very well with the lines of the car, and the larger rims. It also gets a BTCC badge on the grille, as well as discrete decals on the hood, as well as on the small side air vents.

The engine is the same 1.8-liter turbo unit, with 160 hp, which is good for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 8.4 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 193 km/h or 120 mph. The car comes fully-loaded with kit, yet the starting price is just £16,995 and you can’t get a quicker car in this class, with as many extras as this one for such a low price, so for that reason alone, it is a good buy.
