First seen last week as a couple of renderings emerged, the MG CS Concept just relieved in Shanghai is a preview model for what the Chinese-owned brand says is a global product.
There's not a lot we can learn from the official press information. We know it's a compact SUV which is expected to enter production as early as 2014.
No word on engines, but the CS is based on the same platform as the MG3 supermini, and will most likely use a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms.
Its main rivals will be the Kia Sportage, Hyundai ix35 and Nissan Qashqai.
MG has previously shown a two-door crossover called the MG Icon. This had more retro looks and presented itself as a lifestyle vehicle. Hopefully, the Chine realize practicality and affordably are their only selling points if they come to Europe.
The official press release says the MG CS will expand their reach to the global level. We wonder if there's any chance for this car to be offered in America.
