MG, an automotive producer that now belongs to Chinese carmaker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) has announced that it will introduce a concept car called Icon at the Beijing Motor Show, also releasing the official sketches of the car.
We are talking about a crossover, which is currently using the AS21 internal name and is expected to enter production in 2014. The vehicle tries to bring back the spirit of the original MGB GT that debuted in 1965 and will be underpinned by the same platform as the MG 5 and the Chinese market Roewe 350. Under the hood, we find SAIC’s turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol unit, which offers 140 hp.
The concept comes with a bold interior, offering suicide rear doors, four individual bucket seats, as well as the possibility to fold the two rear ones into the floor.
