Meyrick Closes Deal with ORECA for Le Mans

Team ORECA secured British driver Andy Meyrick in their line-up for this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. The team will race their own ORECA 01 LMP1 car and the 24-year-old Briton will race alongside teammates Soheil Ayari and Didier Andre.

Although the Le Mans 24 Hours race this year will be a premiere for Meyrick, he brings with him the experience from last year’s Le Mans Series where he drove a Kolles Audi R10 TDI. The 24-year-old from Cheshire is also familiar with the ALMS (American Le Mans Series) where he raced in the season-opening Twelve Hours of Sebring with Dyson Racing. Andy Meyrick will return to drive for Dyson Racing team in the Mazda-powered Lola B09/86 at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, before making his 24-hour Le Mans debut with ORECA in June.

“To do Le Mans for the first time with such a well-known and respected team as ORECA is just like a dream,” says the British driver. “I’d like to thank Hugues de Chaunac for giving me the opportunity to compete at Le Mans with one of the most iconic teams in the business."

“Up to now I’ve only seen the race as a spectator, since I was four years old! I had my first taste of the ORECA 01 at the test days on the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit a month or so ago, and I found it fantastic. With my two experienced teammates I’m sure we’ll be competitive. I’ve already raced on Dunlop tires and I hope I’ll be able to make a big contribution to the team.”

Andy Meyrick and Soheil Ayari will take the wheel of the ORECA 01 next week in a tire testing session organized by Dunlop, who readies for the Sarthe classic.
