Metzeler announces a new generation of tires for supermoto racing, the Racetec SM K0. The Pirelli-owned manufacturer already had the K1 and K2 soft and medium tires, respectively, and the line-up is now complemented by an even softer compound.
The Metzeler Racetec SM K0 tires have been designed using the proprietary Contour Modelling Technology software, a computer-controlled technology which ensures complementary shapes for the front and rear tires. This technology is aimed at designing tires with a more uniform heat build-up and which will thus provide better grip under high-stress conditions.

Tire wear is said to be more uniform, as well, providing the riders with more predictable handling and better structural resistance. Supported by a 0° steel structure with optimized cable spacing, which provides excellent high-speed support in long straights, and increased structural stability in fast turns and successive directional changes, the Metzeler Racetec SM K0 will soon be tested in the World Supermoto Championship.

The Metzeler Racetec SM K0 rear tire will be available in 165/55 R17 size and in a 160/60 R17 rain configuration, easy to combine with the rest of the Racetec SM front tires. No price was mentioned at the time of writing.
