We were kind of surprised to learn that one can actually buy a Metzeler Racetec Guy Martin tire, but it looks like these things are real and even more important, they are FOR REAL.

Metzeler has just surfaced a new chapter of their Guy Martin Special Edition documentary, and it is dedicated to the tires Guy uses in his road races. With only days remaining until the roads in the Isle of Man are closing down to welcome the boldest motorcycle racers of the planet, the German tire manufacturer announces that the limited edition Guy Martin tires will become available starting from June 5th.

The biggest guys in motorsport sometimes rely on the popularity of their name to sell various products which the fans believe to be superior simply because of the badge they wear.

It's not the case this time, as the Racetec Guy Martin edition tires are real, high-end units from Metzeler's "top drawer". They are infused with Guy Martin's experience in hardcore road races, such as the Isle of Man TT, NW 200 or the Ulster GP.Real on-road performance from Metzeler's high-end Racetec series
Now, the truth is that works for Martin his bike and his riding style in extreme conditions might not yield spectacular results with other machines and pilots. Still, if one of the top road racing riders is entrusting his safety and performance to such tires, then maybe there is something to them, right?

These tires are targeted for superbikes only, as they come as 120/70ZR17 fronts, while for the rear, riders can choose either 180/55ZR17 or 190/55ZR17. Tires come with a special Guy Martin badge and sport Guy's laser-engraved skull & wrenches mark.

No prices have been mentioned, but the Metzeler Guy Martin Racetec limited edition tires will be available through his online shops and possibly through select Metzeler dealers. A piece of news just as interesting as learning that Guy Martin won't be prosecuted for speeding.
