The Defender as we know it today started its life back in 1948, being based on the American World War II Jeep. It was first used by the British Army and the first models weren’t even known as Defenders. They were using “Series” and numbers back then.

After the Series III came the Land Rover Ninety and One Ten, which in 1990 got to wear the Defender name. This is the Land Rover model you can still see today roaming the roads and the hills. Bold, classic, tough and capable of going everywhere.

However, Euro 6 regulations, the old body-on-frame technology and the lack of modern technology are finally taking their toll on the old Defender. Land Rover will cut its production in December 2015, following to start creating a whole new generation inspired by the 2011 DC 100 concept car.

The video bellow shows the 2015 Defender models being built at the Solihull plant in the UK. Three special edition models are launched to mark the special event - Autobiography, Adventure and Heritage. We’ll leave you to the video, unaltered by any kind of music or speech. Just the factory sounds creating history...
