The Mercedes-Benz Zetros was never designed to be a luxury desert cruiser, but in the right hands, it can become pretty much anything. This latest project comes from the guys at Carlex Design, who once again worked their magic on the mighty monster, taking it to the gray area between luxury and ruggedness.
The theme of the cabin is quite obviously the African desert, with beautifully stitched map pockets recessed into the doors and other interesting storage compartments. The whole thing kind of reminds us of general Erwin Rommel's Africa Korps, the famous tank unit that took the desert front by storm during World War II.

After much better soundproofing was installed into the Zetros, the cabin feels less like that of a truck and more like a luxurious command center where a 5-star general can plot troop movements and supply routes. A patchwork of dark leather is held together with durable thin leather straps.

Even the roof is covered, looking like the underside of a horse's saddle, while the floors are covered in lavish but durable brown carpets.

"All the inside plastic components have been covered with the highest quality patina leather. This way, we’ve obtained a nice Vintage climate, just like in the Indiana Jones movies. The cabin was meant to be both; raw and neat. The everlasting interior is ready for thousands of adventures waiting just ahead!" the Polish interior customizer Carlex Design states about its most recent creation.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
