Mercedes Will Export Long Wheelbase E-Class from China

The current Mercedes Benz E-Class is probably the strangest one we’ve ever seen. Because they’ve switched to angular headlamps, they also made a little cube thing in order to keep the doubled design that makes the E-Class recognizable. However strange it might be, it’s also very popular in its long wheelbase form on the Chinese market, so the new report from Gasgoo saying that Beijing Benz will export the model.

Demand in China is leveling off and is expected to only rise by 15% next year, so they are probably looking for other markets to expand to. The long-wheelbase E is only built in China and is currently only sold there. It is five inches longer than the standard E sedan that is sold on other markets.

If the venture is successful, other models built by the Chinese JV, like the C-Classe and GLK crossover, could also be exported.
