Mercedes to Build Diesel AMG

Petrol can become an endangered species when it comes to high performance as Mercedes has announced that they will start making diesel versions of fast AMG cars. They wouldn't be the first though as Audi also announced a diesel R8 while BMW confirmed diesel versions for the M series.

Mercedes will use in its fast diesel a 3-liter unit with 177 HP that was available at first on the Hammer.

"This car will be the Super Hammer,” AMG boss Volker Mornhinweg stated.

What Volker said is great news, because we remember that the Hammer could outpower a Ferrari GTO and could leave a Porsche 928 S4 (which was the top of the range) behind. The new car will likely use a small lightweight C-class sedan chassis (which is said to be the best in the world).

AMGs inspire power that you might think came from the gods. When you hear AMG engines, you could be forgiven for thinking that there is aWW2 meeting somewhere in the vicinity and that planes fly above your head.

Your jaw drops when you see and realize that there are cars made with this soundtrack in mind and people can drive them. The next usual thing to do is to go to a dealership and realize it costs a ton of money. But that doesn't matter, because all good sound systems are expensive.

Back to our diesel, it's worth mentioning that this isn't the first attempt for AMG. In 2002, there was another model called the C30 AMG and was based on a Mercedes Sport Coupe.
