Mercedes-Benz has recently set its amusingly powerful SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive free on the Nurburgring, with the result being a new Nordschleife lap record for EVs.
The electron-drives SLS AMG managed to get round the ‘Ring in seven minutes and 56.2 seconds, which also makes it the first EV to break the eight-minute barrier on the infamous German track.
The tested vehicle is promised to be identical to the SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive that’s set to become available by the end of the current month.
We’re talking about the most muscular vehicle in the AMG range, as the car has four electric motors delivering a combined 751 hp and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. Combined with the four-wheel power delivery, this allos the eco-friendly supercar to deal with the 0 to 62 mph sprint in 3.9 seconds (the “in-gear” acceleration is much more impressive though). As for the top speed, this is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).
