Mercedes SLK and C-Klasse Miniatures Hit the Shelves

The excitement caused by the presentation of the newest Mercedes' on the planet earlier this year, the new SLK and the revised C-Klasse soon faded away, as the real models will not reach dealerships until later in the year.

As a treat and a compensation for those planning to buy one, the German auto =maker announced today the release of the miniature versions of the two models. Scaled at 1:87 for model railway layouts and 1:43 for collectors, the miniatures are a cheap, yet interesting way of keeping the excitement we mentioned earlier at the current levels until the real cars get here.

Built to match the real cars by HO-scale specialist Herpa, the miniatures are designed to impress the buyers through the level of detail. Despite all this, and the fact that the models will be made available with a variety of
original paint finishes and interior appointments, prices are not steep at all.

The 1:87 version of the SLK for instance will retail for EUR15.90, while the 1:43 variant will sell for EUR29.90. An even more detailed miniature, scaled at 1:18 and produced by Minichamps, will sell for EUR69.90.

For the C-Klasse, Mercedes prepared miniatures for both the saloon and the estate versions of the real life models. Coming with the same wide choice of exterior colors and interior appointments, the miniatures will sell for EUR29.90 and will only come as 1:43 replicas.

“Large or small, Mercedes-Benz cars are always able to generate a sense of fascination, both in their original size as well as in model format,” says the German auto maker.
