Mercedes isn’t currently offering any sportscars in the €90.000 ($118.000) price bracket to match the ever present Porsche 911 and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Well, things are about to change as Gorden Wagener (Head of Design at Mercedes) has confirmed plans to put the SLC into production. He also stated that the production version of the CSC will be dubbed the CLA, while also hinting at a possible Maybach replacement and a coupe version of the ML.
Powering the new SLC sportscar will be a new 4.0-liter V8 in the hottest version and possibly a V6 in lesser versions, most likely the 3.5-liter used in the C-Coupe and SLK. In an effort to keep costs down and increase practicality, they will also ditch the gull-wing doors.
The car is expected to make its public debut in 2014.
