Mercedes makes more two-door models than any of its rivals, but you can never have too many cool cars. A new sportscar to slot underneath the SLS is coming for 201, and it promises to be a true rival for the Porsche 911 in both performance and price.
This isn't the first time the SLC has been around the rumor mill, long being reported as a car scheduled for 2016. However, a new report from Auto Bild shed news light on the subject.
The cheapest SLC will start at €109,000 in Germany, only slightly more expensive than a 911 Carrera S and cheaper than a 4S. It will be powered by a new AMG engine called the M177, expected to make its debut in the next C63 AMG next year. The SLC's base version will have 485 horsepower, easily topping the Porsche. There will also be an S version (S-Model?) with 550 horsepower that will start at €145,000, which is 911 Turbo money.
The SLC will not be available with all-wheel drive or a second Roadster body variant. It will also not share the SLS gullwing doors.
