Try as they might, Audi and BMW have never been able to match the prestige of the S-Class. It's not what you would call a perfect car, but the image and heritage give it appeal, and many celebrities love it more than their supercars.
When we tested the S500 Plug-in Hybrid recently, we knew it was only a matter of time before somebody took the W222 and turned it into a pimp's car. That happened last week when UK wrap firm Yiannimize-Refined finished a custom S-Sedan in purple vinyl. From 50 Pennies to 5 Chainz, every rapper will now want one of these.
The weird thing is that this pimped out S-Class belongs not to a rapper, but to the wife of a football player. The beautiful redhead that's covered in tattoos is Daisy Vorn. She is the wife of Michel Armand Vorm, a Dutch footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the English club Tottenham Hotspur.
Her Instagram account states that besides being the mother of two lovely boys, she is also the "Owner/Designer/Managing-director of fashion label Daivor", which seems to be all about velvet. That kind of explains why her car is purple.
Available in Britain from £67,180, the new S-Class saloon can be ordered with three types of powertrain: diesel, petrol or hybrid. The most extreme model costs supercar money, £180,980 plus options, and in return gives you a 630 horsepower V12 twin-turbo engine.
Vorm joined Tottenham for £3.5 million in 2014, so they can afford to buy any type of S-Class, but the purple monster looks like an average model with a few options.
