Mercedes S-Class Coupe Goes on Sale in Britain in Three Flavors

A brand new nameplate from Mercedes, looks to kill, headlights with Swarovski cristals in them and the quietest cabin in the business – the Mercedes S-Class Coupe Has a number of things that will appeal to British customers. That's right, we said British customers, since it's finally available in RHD, offered in three cool flavors from £96,565.

Starting right at the bottom is no bad thing with the S-Coupe, as the cheapest model is the S 500 and has a lot to offer: 455 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of meaty V8 torque from a 4.7-liter mill. Standard kit and caboodle is generous, which is to be expected when you pay more than you would for an Audi RS7 or BMW M5. Any S 500 Coupe leaves the dealership with Active Parking Assist with a reversing camera, a panoramic roof, TFT 12.3” display, Magic Vision Control system, COMAND Online and a choice of nine metallic paint options.

The middle-of-the-range model is the S 63 AMG, powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 making 585 hp and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. This road rocket is among the fastest in its class, taking 4.3 seconds to reach 62 mph.

Costing a whopping £125,595, the S 63 AMG Coupe has even more equipment on offer, including the Seat Comfort Package, Magic Body Control and Burmester surround sound system with 13 high-performance speakers.

And finally, if you want to spend Ferrari money on a Mercedes, there's a V12 model as well, arriving in the form of the £183,065 S 65 AMG Coupe. This packs 630 hp and had to be limited to 1000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque for the sake of its tires and transmission.

Officially launched at the Geneva Motor Show 2014, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe replaces the CL-Class as the flagship 2-door in the three-pointed star range. Unfortunately, as is the case with many other cool German cars, you can't order 4Matic all-wheel drive on any S-Class Coupe model, which is a bit of a shame.
