Mercedes-Benz revealed their interpretation of a plug-in hybrid van in Geneva, after the Concept V-ision e showed up on the Swiss automotive stage with a desire to impress green-car lovers.

For that to happen, Mercedes-Benz opted for new sporty bumpers that fit the van quite well, along with a rear spoiler and flashy 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. The real treat for occupants is found on the inside, where the Concept V-ision e was fitted with a glass roof and two Nappa leather executive seats. There are also two iPad holders integrated into the driver and front-passenger seat backrests, but since we’re dealing with a plug-in hybrid, the magic happens where the eye can’t get very easily.

The prototype received the same plug-in hybrid system as the Mercedes-Benz C350e: a four-cylinder petrol engine good for 210 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) plus an electric motor that adds some extra 122 HP (90 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) into the equation.

Overall power output is rated at 333 HP and a hefty 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, making the van fall a bit on the sporty side, don’t you think? We do, especially after Mercedes-Benz said that the prototype can go from a standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 128 mph (206 km/h).

All this will only make the V-ision e concept to sip around 3.0 liters of fuel per 100 km, while CO2 emissions are kept to 71 g/km. Mercedes also mentions that the eco-friendly luxury van can travel up to 50 km (31 miles) in the all-electric mode at speeds no higher than 80 km/h (50 mph).
