If you thought that the Mercedes-Benz S600 is a sedan full-size luxury vehicle lavish enough for a respectable businessman, the all-new Mercedes-Maybach division begs to differ. This is why the bi-turbo V12 four-door German sedan dropped the Benz for Maybach, morphing every ounce of luxury into full-on opulence and sumptuousness.
First of all, let’s talk about the pricing. While the standard Mercedes-Benz S600 sedan is priced at $166,900 in the United States of America, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 goes for $189,350. If you’re curious what the $22,450 difference adds to the mix, the simple answer is 8 inches of extra length.

It’s redundant to think a simple Maybach badge can change a lot of the normal S-Class (W222). A tell-tale sign of that is the powertrain. Just as the Mercedes-Benz S600, the Maybach-ified S600 is animated by the same 6-liter bi-turbo V12 tower-of-power, producing 523 HP and 612 lb-ft from just 1,900 rpm.

Despite its outright mass, 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) takes 5 seconds, which is pretty impressive for a stately car designed to be as inviting as possible for the rear passengers. The Mercedes-Benz S600 does it in 4.5.

Officially described as a model that “melds the perfection of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with the incredible heritage and prestige of the Maybach nameplate,” the posher sibling of the Mercedes-AMG sub-brand informs that “these vehicles are distinguished by unparalleled interior appointments and extensive individualization options.” They’re right on this one you know.

The $189,350 Mercedes-Maybach S600 will be launched in the US in April 2015. As for standard equipment, customers are offered with many upmarket amenities like the Magic Body Control suspension, a Driver Assistance Package (Intelligent Drive), Night View Assist PLUS, a Warmth and Comfort Package with a heated windshield, head-up display, LED Intelligent Lighting.

Entertainment-oriented features are also offered as standard, including things like the Burmester 3D audio system, an Executive Rear Seat Package and a Rear Seat Entertainment System, as well as the Air Balance Package that adds perfumed climate control and the possibility to ionize the air in the cabin.
