Mercedes-Maybach S500 Priced at €134,053, S600 is €187,841 in Germany

Maybach-Manufaktur may have bitten the dust in 2012 because only 3,000 vehicles were sold since the ultra luxury brand was revived by Mercedes in 2002. If you think for a moment what made the marque fail, the sticker price of the Maybach 57 and the W220-gen S-Class platform are probably it. After launching the sixth generation W222/C217 S-Class in 2013, the German automobile manufacturer decided to bring Maybach back from the dead at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Officially dubbed the Mercedes-Maybach, the all-new model is basically the ultra luxurious version of the S-Class, but there’s more to it than the added lavishness. Compared to the 2012 Maybach 57, the 2015 Mercedes-Maybach S500 is considerably less expensive (more than half) considering leaked insider info from Mercedes-Benz Passion hints at a €134,053 ($166,882 at current rates) starting price in Germany. As for the S600 variation of the Maybach-ified S-Class, that’s €187,841 ($233,842 at current exchange rates), which is still a lot less than the out of production Maybach 57 gentlemen’s club on wheels

Sometime next year, Mercedes-Maybach will introduce an entry-level, V6-powered S400. With the order books now open, deliveries of the turbo V8 S500 and turbo V12 S600 will start in Europe in February.

Both models come in rear-wheel drive guise only, with a Mercedes-Maybach S500 4Matic to follow later in April if the publication is correct. As anyone would expect from such a vehicle, there’s a lot of standard kit offered as standard. After all, Mercedes is charging you a helluva lot of money for one.

One notable optional extra you should tick from the options list to roll in style comes in the form of some champagne flutes branded Mercedes-Maybach, which cost a mind-bending €3,808 ($4,740).
