Thought we forgot all about the SLK Roadster? Of course we didn't, and neither did the Japanese, it seems. On August 22nd, the company representing the three-pointed star locally presented a special edition model called the Carbon LOOK, which we think is worthy of your attention.
Only 100 of them will be built, using AMG parts and designo exclusive finishes. All come in right-hand drive and have been priced at 6,700,000 yen, equivalent to $65,000 or €49,000 at today's exchange rate.

Most German cars sold in Japan come with the smallest possible engines and the roadster is no exception. We're dealing with the SLK 200 here, which means power comes from a 1.8-liter rated 184 PS (181 hp) and 270 Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque, all sent out though a slick six-speed manual. You can't even get this car in America, but with 0 to 100 km/h taking 7.3 seconds, it's reasonably spritely.

What it lacks in power the SLK "LOOK" makes up for in curb appeal. As standard, it comes with the AMG 5-spoke 18-inch wheels (available in silver or titanium gray) and "Diamond White" in body color. Mercedes also throws in the Magic Sky Control panoramic roof that changes from "clear mode" to "dark mode" at the touch of a button.

The interior is where we get to sample the carbon part, as this is the finish chosen for part of the upper seats. For both the center console and door inserts, carbon gray inserts with a pearl finish have been chose, while green piping brings everything together, adding a sport feel. Black or gray Nappa leather and dedicated floor mats complete the interior's transformation.
