Mercedes GLA Tuned by Brabus Looks Stunning in Red and Black, Gets Diesel Power Boost

Specialist Mercedes tuning firm Brabus has just released the second coming of its cosmetic kit for the all-new GLA entry-level premium crossover. It goes deeper into the stock body than ever and targets all cars that left the factory with the optional AMG cosmetic pack.

Before we talk about the body kit, the new PowerXtra D3 plug-and-play system needs addressing. It's designed with the 2.1-liter diesel in mind, the 220 CDI flagship model to be more precise. Brabus' plug-and-play system adds 40 PS and 60 Nm, while reducing the 0 to 100 km/h sprint time to 8 seconds dead.

There are other packages available as well. For example, the GLA 250 can be tuned to 245 HP and 385 Nm (284 lb-ft) of torque. While the GLA45 AMG's output is boostable 400 HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, though that's another story.

To describe the Brabus kit as being aggressive is an understatement.

The Germans have created black air vents, a new grille with the huge "B" logo replacing the star, a big chin spoiler, side skirts and a diffuser. The back of the GLA looks like a rally car's thanks to quad exhaust and a black wing on top. Meanwhile, the underbelly is like a 1990s street racer, with lights projected unto the ground that follow the Merc wherever it goes.

Brabus threw pretty much everything it had at this project car, including its special set of plush carpets, aluminum pedals with their logo and illuminated side sills. It simply looks like a small crossover from a premium brand that's worth at least €60,000, and you don't see many of those around.

Usually, Brabus Monoblock wheels are painted silver, but here they are black to match the paint scheme and have a red lip. Something about this whole red and black combination and the way it's executed just screams out "I'm an Audi RS3".
