When we think of Mercedes tuners Carlsson, their gold-plated S-Class unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show immediately comes to mind. Yet their bread and butter models are just as important, especially now that the three-pointed star sells so many premium compacts.
Today, Carlsson introduced the tuning program for the GLA-Class, which includes both power upgrades and styling tweaks that add sporty character.

We start by looking at what they can do to the engines. The basic GLA 200, which is powered by a 1.6-liter turbo, can be tuned to deliver 187 HP and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. For those who have ordered a GLA 250 model but are unsatisfied with the stock output of their 2-liter turbo, Carlsson can tune that to 253 PS and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque.

On the cosmetic front, the city 4x4 has been equipped with a new front spoiler and a tweaked grille. These are subtle changes that emulate the design of the AMG line in a way that we think is even more classy. Around the back, the four tips of a custom exhaust system will let everybody know your GLA has been tuned. They flank the sides of the car and fit flush with a silver diffuser.

The company also offers a variety of custom wheels for you to choose from, ranging in size from 18 to 21 inches. The ones they've got on this time make the GLA look a little bit like a shrunken Porsche Macan.

The GLA's interior can be customized in a number of ways using only Mercedes accessories. However, Carlsson has been in the business since before the age of crossovers and their equipment is just as good. For this tuning project, they've added aluminum door lock pins, illuminated sill plates and Carlsson-branded pedals.

Without actually providing us with photos, Carlsson's craftsmen say they can do the whole upholstery using Alcantara and either wood or carbon fiber trim. We think black and carbon best suit the cabin of this car, but let us know what sort of customization you dream of for the Mercedes GLA.
